Hello! We’re back – how are you?
Please tell us we're not the only ones wondering where the summer went to and how we're already in September?!
What a summer it was though... This week we put together a reel of some of our highlights (click here to see) - it was so lovely to look back over the last few months and remember what we've been up to! We also just wanted to say a big thank you to you for making it a great one for us and our little shop! We're forever grateful to live and work in such a beautiful place and to have the best customers. It's always so lovely to chat to you in the shop and hear what you've been up to and of course we appreciate every online order too.
It does feel like the weather is changing now - are you looking forward to the change of season or still feeling a bit resistant to it? We're sad to be coming to the end of the summer but we're trying to embrace the new season!

What We’re Loving This Month
The People Behind the Products
When we last spoke, Fran and I were on the way to Harrogate for our first trade show of the season to look for lots of lovely things for the new season and to catch up with some of our lovely suppliers! It's always so good to see the fabulous people behind the products we sell and find out what's new with them (click to see this reel on Instagram for more)! Good news is we also found LOTS of gorgeous things - some of which have already arrived (keep reading for a sneak peek) and some that will be arriving over the next few months! It's always so hard to try and think about C*******s in July but the prep has well and truly started! We've got more buying trips this month so more coming soon!
What We’re Watching
The weather is taking a turn and naturally that means that all the great TV starts coming back onto our screens! We've been enjoying getting stuck back into some TV series but firstly we wanted to tell you about Inter Alia - a National Theatre play that was shown live at the Kino this week! Fran and I LOVED it and they're showing it again on 18th September if you want to catch it - we think you'd really enjoy it too! We're currently also watching The Guest on BBC iPlayer - slightly random but really addictive! If you've got any suggestions for what to watch next then let us know!
Fran’s New Obsession: Padel!
When I asked Fran what she'd been loving this month there was only one answer... this summer Fran has discovered padel and it is safe to say she's verging on obsessed! Having enjoyed being a squash player when she was younger, she decided to join the Rye Tennis Club and try a bit of padel tuition and she hasn't stopped playing since! Have you tried it yet? Feels like it's definitely becoming more and more popular! (Ian took this sneaky photo of Fran playing - let's hope she doesn't mind!!)
Rye’s Fabulous Events
Part of what makes living in Rye so special is the fabulous events that our town puts on... last month the first ever Rye Pirates & Smugglers Day happened on the 9th with a brilliant procession (see more here) - we can't wait for next year already! We also enjoyed the Rye Jazz Festival over the bank holiday weekend which always brings a great buzz to the town! This month we have the Rye Arts Festival with lots of different activities over the fortnight, the Rye Harvest Food & Drink Festival AND Tibbs Hop Fest if you're looking for something to do!
Product Spotlight: New Arrivals & Restocks
Getting Organised
Maybe it's the ex primary school teacher in me but there's something about the schools going back that makes me feel like getting life organised and I think it's rubbing off on Fran & Ian too! We've got lots of exciting things going on at the moment that involve a lot of planning so we've decided it's the perfect excuse for some new stationery (never too old for that feeling right?!)... The Good Tuesday collection is so good for encouraging a bit of organisation - this NEW magnetic planner is so handy and we always use these to do list pads in the shop! This Chunky Notebook has been great for taking notes too - love that you can record the date and use it like it a journal!
Kind Bags
We've had our eye on these Reusable Bags since we first saw them at a trade show and we've finally got them in store! Perfectly compact for keeping in your bag or car for when you need them PLUS they're made from 100% recycled materials and can hold up to 20kg! They're stylish and practical... the tricky bit is having to choose your favourite design! We've also had a delivery of their fabulous laptop sleeves and pouches - again they're not only so handy but they look great too! I'll definitely be taking some of these home for me but I also think they would make great gifts!
New Autumn/Winter Essentials
We've just unboxed the first drop of our A/W clothing and we think you're going to love it! This time of year is always about the layers (especially when the weather changes 10x a day!!) so we've selected some really fabulous bits from Chalk and Dreams that can be worn now but easily layered up as it gets colder! From gorgeous lightweight knits like the Ashley Top (which I've barely taken off!!) and this Knitted Shirt (in 3 seasonal colours) to jackets and gilets like this fabulous Boxy Cotton Twill Jacket, this cosy Abby Sherpa Gilet and this fabulous Quilted Gilet, this first collection is perfect for building some wardrobe essentials that you'll wear again and again! Restock of Your Favourites
After the summer season we always have to do a big restock so we thought we'd share some bits that are back in stock in case you've been waiting patiently... Firstly we've just had a restock of the Chilly's Series 2 and Series 2 Flip Bottles - always great for gifting! Next, these Leather Coin Purses have been so popular over the summer so we've just stocked up including some gorgeous new colours for autumn. We've also got these new Heart and Star Keyrings in too - great for gifting! If that wasn't enough we've also had a restock of the gorgeous Studio Lowen Leather Earrings (some online here with some extras in store!).
